28 August 2026 | What Comes After the Space Between?

A few days ago, I wrote about The Space Between — that curious place between eclipses where we may not yet know what is changing, but we can often sense that something is moving. Perhaps that space was never meant to give us all the answers. Perhaps its purpose was simply to give us enough room to notice what we are ready to carry forward, and what no longer needs to come with us.

Here in New Zealand, the Full Moon arrives at 4:18 pm on Friday 28 August, with the lunar eclipse reaching its true maximum just a few minutes earlier at 4:12 pm. Here in Canterbury, we won’t see that maximum because the Moon is still below the horizon; instead, it rises at around 5:59 pm. By the time the Moon rises here, the dramatic partial phase will have passed, leaving us with the final, much subtler penumbral stage. There is something rather beautiful in that imagery: some of the shift has already happened before the Moon even appears above our horizon.

The numbers add another layer to the story. 28/08/2026 gives us 28 → 10 → 1, a sequence that can speak of moving through experience and relationship with the world before arriving back at the 1 — self-direction, initiative and the possibility of beginning again. Even the Full Moon’s 4:18 pm timing carries 13 → 4, bringing a more grounded quality to that beginning: not simply dreaming about what comes next, but considering what needs to be built, strengthened or given some practical form.

The eclipse reaches its true peak at 4:12 pm, a time vibration of 7, traditionally associated in numerology with reflection, inner understanding and looking beneath what is immediately visible. By the time the Moon becomes visible to us in Canterbury, around 6:02 pm, that vibration moves to 8 — a number I associate with strength, responsibility and bringing something into the tangible world. I don’t see these numbers as predictions, but I do find their sequence interesting: reflection before visibility, understanding before action, and then the opportunity to decide what we actually want to do with what we have discovered.

Perhaps that is where The Space Between has been leading us. Not towards a dramatic ending or an instant new beginning, but towards greater awareness of what has quietly shifted while we were in between. We don’t always recognise change at the moment it happens; sometimes we only see it when we look back and realise that something we once carried has already begun to fall away.

There is a sense of completion here too. We have been moving through a period of significant change in the skies, with several of the slower-moving planets shifting signs and creating a very different backdrop to the one we have known. Whether we follow astrology closely or simply recognise change through our own lived experience, it has been a period of transition for many. Perhaps we are now beginning to feel some of that reflection and closure giving way to forward movement, carrying us from what has been into what is ready to emerge.

As this Full Moon rises over New Zealand, perhaps the invitation is simply to notice what is different.

What feels different now?

What has become clearer?

And, as the 28 moves through 10 into 1,

What might you now be ready to take forward in your own way?

The space between was never empty.

Perhaps it was where the next part of the story was quietly taking shape. 🦋
